At least 22 people, including many children, have been killed and 120 injured in the blast by a suicide bomber after an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena, UK, last night, 22nd Monday. An eight-year-old girl is the youngest victim to have been killed during the terror attack.

59 people were taken for treatment at eight hospitals across Greater Manchester. A further 60 were treated as 'walking wounded'.

The Suicide Bomber

British media reports the attack was carried out by a lone male suicide bomber who detonated an improvised explosive device. The suicide bomber has been named by US officials as British-born 23-year-old Salman Abedi, the son of Libyan immigrants.

Mr. Abedi died at the scene after detonating an improvised explosive device at the arena.

He was known to security services who are investigating whether he acted alone or was part of a network.

Arrest in Manchester

The police were investigating whether the suicide bomber had any help. A controlled explosion was carried out on Tuesday afternoon, as part of the investigation.

The police announced that they had arrested a 23-year-old in Southwest Manchester in connection with the incident. His connection to Mr. Abedi is not clear.

IS Claimed Responsibility

The Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the bombing that killed 22 people and wounded 59 others after a concert by the American pop star Ariana Grande. IS identifying the bomber in its statement as one of the “soldiers of the caliphate,” but the extent of the militant group’s connection is unclear yet.
